What country has the toughest laws against polluters?

    Another tough set of pollution laws are those enacted by Finland. In 2007, this country was found to be the “greenest” in the world. (If you’re wondering, the runner up was Iceland, the looser was Ethiopia preceded by other African countries, and the US didn’t make either extreme).

    Finland’s 1994 Act on Compensation for Environmental Damage stipulated that persons must pay for the air and water pollution they create. One of the clauses even stated that polluters are responsible for paying for real estate that is damaged by their pollution.
