The biggest investment for biofuels is made by Shell in Brazil, spending $1.63 billion on Brazilian ethanol. Brazil has been using E85 type fuel for decades. The joint venture “helps to consolidate ethanol as a global commodity”. In the US Exxon started funding a $600 million project on biofuels, but this is yet to be put into effect.
