The Coral Sea is a smaller sea off the north-east coast of Australia, and it includes the Great Barrier Reef. Its Basin was formed between 58 million – 48 million years ago. During World War II, the Coral Sea was “the location for a major confrontation” between the navies of Australia, the Empire of Japan, and the United States.
