Since a lily pad is a non-carnviorous plant, it would be at trophic level one (i.e. it would be a primary producer). The trophic levels correspond to an organism’s position in the food chain; since lily pads don’t eat any other organisms, but are eaten, they are considered the first link in the chain. Any organism that eats them would be a primary consumer, which in turn would be eaten by a secondary consumer, and so on.
