The United State Postal Service has been giving great consideration to many different proposals to put their green fleet plan into action. They want to integrate hybrid or electric vehicles into their line up to decrease their carbon output. They have specifically looked at using a Chrysler minivan, the Town and Country, which is an electric vehicle that can more 40 miles off one charge. Chrysler has applied for a DOE Transportation Electrification stimulus program grant to start building the fleet an begin trials.
It sounds like the USPS is having their old delivery trucks converted into electric vehicles for a one-year pilot program. The companies involved in the conversion are Quantum Technologies, Bright Automotive, EDAG, ZAP, and AutoPort.
