The ancient Pseudaelurus (Greek for “pseudo-cat”) is believed to be the common ancestor of all feline species. It lived on the plains of Eurasia and North America about 20-8 million years ago. The first “true cat” is believed to be the Proailurus, which the Pseudaelurus is believed to have evolved from.
