What is the coldest winter in American history?

Good question, Jacky.  Because our country is so vast, it is hard to say as a nation what the one year of the coldest winter was.  If you go by state, those numbers are easier to find.  As far as the country goes though, it seems like the 30s saw some of the coldest temperatures ever for a lot of the country.  Here is one particular year where most of the country was much colder than usual, and some of the country set record lows.

    Hope this helps!

The 1912 cold wave is generally considered to be the coldest winter on record for the United States, with the longest consecutive stretches of severe windchills and below zero temperatures.
