Coke has blended about one quarter plant-based materials with three quarters petroleum-based materials to produce the PlantBottle, which will come out containing Dasani before the end of the year and in Vitaminwater next year. Sugar cane and molasses were turned into a component of plastic to create the bottle. An Imperial College of London analysis predicts that the new container will reduce carbon emissions as much as 25 percent compared to traditional plastic bottles.
