What is the closest to the equator that it snows?

Snow actually falls on the equator, depending on the altitude of the region.  Mount Kilimanjaro is a great example of this.  Because its peak elevation is 19,335.6 feet, the temperature rarely goes above freezing, so precipitation that occurs here will fall as snow.
