A viper snake is classified as such if it has a few distinctive characteristics. For one, it’s venomous. Second, the snake has a set of hollow fangs. These fangs are reserved for releasing its venom and are typically paired with a set of ‘reserve’ fangs which can be pushed back and up into the top of the mouth when not being used by the snake. Although they can easily be folded up into the snake’s mouth they can just as easily snap forward to assist the snake in injecting lethal venom into its prety. Third, vipers typically have broad, triangular heads with eyes that have pupils that run vertically instead of just round circles. Lastly, vipers will give birth to their (live) babies from eggs that the mother has hatched inside her body.
