Tampa is the city in Florida with the worst air quality. Power plants, industrial plants, and brush fires in the area contribute to Tampa’s air quality problems. According to Florida PIRG, “In Tampa, soot pollution from power plants alone causes 265 premature deaths, 380 heart attacks, and over 26,000 lost days of work annually, more than in any other metropolitan area in the state.”
According to a report released in September of 2011, Pensacola is the smoggiest city in Florida, followed by Tampa Bay as a close second.
