The atmosphere of Venus is largely composed of carbon dioxide with clouds of sulfuric acid. The composition of the atmosphere is similar to Earth but very different in distribution. Venus air is about 96% carbon dioxide, 3.5% nitrogen and less than 1% of carbon monoxide, argon, sulfur dioxide and water vapor. Venus and Earth are of similar size and density, and scientists think that Venus also has a similar core and mantle, but they are vastly different on the surface. The atmosphere of Venus is 90 times heavier and surface temperatures are hot enough to melt lead.
