The bill S. 510: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act offers the first change in food safety regulation in over seventy years. This legislation was introduced in March 3, 2009 and has been passed by the House of Representative. It establishes basic food standards through the entire process, from cultivation to production and manufacturing with regular inspections and reviews. Also, imported food will be required to meet certain quality standards as well.
