What is cellulosic ethanol?

Cellulosic ethanol is derived from a wide variety of sources of cellulose (cell wall) plant fiber. This method of ethanol production is quite efficient; it uses a resource that would otherwise considered waste to create a new and useful fuel. It also frees up land that would generally be reserved for growing feedstock.
