Especially since the recent Gulf Oil Crisis it seems that a lot of celebrities are trying to contribute to the environment. Kevin Costner and James Cameron were both part of the news regarding the Oil Spill.
Sean Penn is well known as an activist — although his focus seems to be more humanitarian than environmental.
Harrison Ford may be the dark horse in this category — he was awarded a 2002 Global Environmental Citizen Award. Other celebs including Dave Matthews, Leo DiCaprio, Alanis Morissette and a host of other celebs are also trying to make a difference — see the link below for more specifics.
There are so many celebrities that are working together to bring awareness to the environmental movement. Pierce Brosnan focuses on “marine mammal and wetland protection, headlined Natural Resources Defense Council campaign against effects of Navy sonar on whales, awarded 1997 Green Cross International Environmental Leadership Award”
Actresses like Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow partnered in Act Green who works to unite people to “conserve energy and reduce our reliance on oil.”
Political figures like Al Gore have made their mark on society with environmental issues. He created the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” to show people the real facts about global warming.
Brad Pitt created makeitright9.org
Leonardo DiCaprio as working on many environmental issues and he also created a film called “The 11th Hour” n eco-documentary that he co-produced, wrote and narrated — about the human impact on the environment.

Ed Begley, Jr. is very concerned with the environment. In fact, he has a show called “Living With Ed” to promote his lifestyle.
I think that Cameron Diaz has done a lot of great things to help out the environment. One of my favorite things about her green efforts are that they are quiet and understated. Diaz doesn’t make a huge deal about what she is doing, and does not try to impose her opinions on others. Instead she seems to spread what she knows about the subject, and if people agree then great, but if not that is fine too.
I’ll go with Leonardo DiCaprio, who is probably the most popular actor in Hollywood and had done a lot to draw attention to Earth Day.
