What is causing the dust storms in Australia?

Droughts can be a source of dust storms, this is why dust storms are common in arid and semi-arid regions. Where there is strong winds and loose sand, given the said weather condition, a sand storm is bound to happen. Studies also show that “poor management of the Earth’s drylands, such as neglecting the fallow system, are increasing dust storms from desert margins and changing both the local and global climate.” Pictures of dust storms in Australia are available in the first link below.
