What causes the stripes on a tiger shark?

The stripes are merely a biological defense mechanism for juvenile sharks mainly. The stripes disappear as tiger sharks mature. The stripes are caused more likely by a morphological part of its genome. Therefore stripe formation is attributed to developmental genes that are activated early on in the life-cycle of a tiger shark, but repressed during maturation.
