Rabies is a virus that can be contracted by any warm blooded mammal. Rabies is a lyssa virus which is commonly carried by raccoons, foxes, dogs and bats. Like many viruses, it is unknown exactly how the virus comes about, but can be spread through bites and contact with an already infected creature. The disease will lead to swelling of the brain, attacks the nervous system and most often ends in death.
