Most of the pacific garbage patch is made up of plastic waste.  Plastic cannot be digested by the Earth and most of the plastic ever created is still in existence today.  One of the largest accumulation of such plastic waste is the pacific garbage patch.  It is roughly the size of Texas and contains bottles, toys, toothbrushes, shoes, and bags to name a few.
