Arthritis is just the inflammation of joints so there are many different ways this can happen. Right now there are more then 100 documented forms of arthritis. The causes range from normal ware and tear, to metabolic problems, to severe injuries, to hereditary reasons. Some forms such as rheumatoid arthritis have no clear cause at all.
Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that has no clear cause. It could be caused by pre-existing conditions such as anemia and other underlying potential diseases. No one knows what causes the immune system to suddenly turn on itself and to start destroying joints and other tissues. There are theories that there is some genetic predisposition to arthritis, and it takes the necessary environment and factors to induce the arthritic response.
