According to Ross Garnaut, Australia’s government climate change adviser, the extreme flooding is caused by the early stages of global warming having a direct impact on the climate change. The increase of energy in the atmosphere and the seas have resulted in extreme weather and storms. He believes that increases of tropical sea surface temperatures will continue to wreak havoc on the country’s climate by way of intense tropical cyclones, typhoons and hurricanes.
