What is the cause of the global environmental crisis?

There is not one single cause for the environmental crisis but if you wanted to take an abstract answer to the root of the cause, I guess you could make a case for POWER, and a conduit to power, which is money. We have been living in an unsustainable manner for a long time because we try and do things cheaper in order to save or make money. We’re doing this at the expense of the environment, by reckless agriculture and deforestation, and using resources (oil) that won’t last and take quite a toll on the environment. The organizations that make much of the waste are also incredibly powerful and resistant to change and especially in the United States, deeply influential in politics. Many of them, however, are also subject to changes in demand from consumers so if we start to make more responsible choices, we can do our part to curb this crisis a bit.
