What is Carbon14 and how is it so important?

    Carbon14 is a naturally occuring, radioactive isotope of carbon.  The half life of carbon14 is 5,700 years, making it a concern for the Department of Energy.  This is significant compared to other carbons with half lifes of up to 20 seconds.
