A carbon footprint is the term used for the total amount of greenhouse gases emitted by a business or product. For example, the total amount of greenhouse gas emitted from the beginning of manufacturing for a product through distribution and then customer usage. It is very desirable information to have on a product label. This move would raise awareness about the total amount of greenhouse gas emitted from every product we buy and use, and would help consumers make environmentally responsible decisions.
