What is the carbon footprint of importing strawberries from Mexico into the US?

That would depend greatly on where the strawberries are coming from in Mexico, and where they are going to in the US.  Shipping by truck is one of the worst methods (along with flying) and I am not certain if the strawberries would additionally need to be refrigerated during the whole shipping process.

One fruit definitely has a large carbon footprint would be the banana.  It is not generally grown on the North American continent, and would require much more transportation than strawberries.
