Not only does using a credit card leave a footprint, depending on what is bought with it, the actual card has one as well. The card of an average size has the carbon footpring of 21 grams. Using a credit card (even used at only 3 times/month) is WAY more eco-friendly than using checks. The energy and packaging/papers that come with it should be taken into account, too.
