Wikipedia does an excellent job of summarizing the technologies. Basically, most carbon capture is done post-combustion, after coal has already been burned. Pre-combustion gasifiers can also be used. The technology here is well established. There are some up-and coming technologies that aren’t yet being used, which I encourage you to read about. Technologies for storing carbon are very much in their infancy, and none are really being used at any significant level.
