Ford’s 1 liter eco-boost engine will be premiering in the Focus in Europe next month and is expected to be in the Fiesta in the US later this year. The engine is the smallest of its kind and even though it will be one of the most efficient, non-electric engines out there, it will still be capable of creating 125 hp. The engine only has three cylinders, but takes advantage of a direct fuel injection that gives the car a bit more power. The 2012 Focus without the eco-boost gets about 33 mpg and the Fiesta gets about 40 mpg. The new sco-boost engine will only increase that number and make these cars even more desirable to those looking for a fuel efficient car, but are not ready for the jump to electric.
