Environment Canada, the Canadian Environment Department, under the leadership of the Environment Minister, has jurisdiction over climate change issues. From their website:
“Environment Canada’s mandate is to preserve and enhance the quality of the natural environment; conserve Canada’s renewable resources; conserve and protect Canada’s water resources; forecast weather and environmental change; enforce rules relating to boundary waters; and coordinate environmental policies and programs for the federal government.”
Environment Canada is the department of the Canadian government which manages environmental and climate change mandates. Like the US, however, the legislature is the branch that approves significant policy decisions, however. There is also a Minister of the Environment, currently Jim Prentice.
