Bundanoon, a small town in Australia, recently voted to become the country’s first bottled water-free town. It may be the first in the world to ban bottled water. The process started with an open letter to community newspapers, which got local residents excited about the idea. A slogan was developed (“Bundy On Tap”) and local businesses and upcoming events planners were asked to support the initiative. When the town finally voted, after numerous businesses got on board, only one or two people voted against it. By this example, I would say the best way to get a similar initiative started is to find others in your area who care about it, advertise, and build local support.
