What can renewable energy do with the $1 billion from the stimulus?

Actually, about $55 billion of the over $700 billion stimulus package is going to green energy projects. A large part of that money will be used for increasing energy efficiency in public and private buildings. Right now, a lot of renewable energies face unfair discrimination from traditional power grids and lose a lot of power when transmitted across long distances. There’s money for building new smart grids and alternative energy infrastructure to make transport and dissemination of power more efficient. There’s also funding for R&D of renewable energy sources as well.
