is there hope
Cleaning up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch poses a problem because of its location and the way it is dispersed. The garbage is evenly distributed and covers a large amount of space in the ocean. Weather patterns causes the garbage patch to shift positions throughout the year, which would hinder cleanup efforts. Also, attempting to clean up the smaller scraps of trash could kill marine animals living in the patch. The most important thing anyone can do is to cut down on the amount of trash they generate so less garbage ends up in the ocean or anywhere else.
