President Obama has stated his goal of reducing America’s dependency on foreign oil, which is a great step in the right direction. In addition, billions of dollars of investment have been directed towards developing renewable energy and the infrastructure to transport it. However, as long as coal and oil remain the cheapest forms of energy available, the transition from these fossil fuels to renewable energy will be slowed. To remedy this situation, Obama could eliminate government subsidies on these fuels to reflect their true cost to the environment.
I think Obama can stop catering to big business and basically just say screw you to the republicans. He has got to step up his game in terms of the environment and do what he believes is right. Obama has to pull a W. Bush and just commit to a certain task and say **** you to everyone else.
