You could try to find some earthworms. Make sure you aren’t digging somewhere that has been sprayed with pesticides though. Could kill the snake.
Garden snakes are carnivorous. They can feed on worms, snails, slugs, earthworms, leeches and spiders, in addition to mice, toads, frogs, and salamanders.
I would of course take the shell of an snail right?
Usually snakes avoid eating the shell, but if you are worried, it would be advised to take the shell off before giving it to your snake.
Also, in a pinch they have been known to eat eggs, so if you are having trouble finding any small animals, try an egg. Definitely get to the store as quickly as possible, but try throwing in an egg.
Do i give a raw egg or can i boil it? Which way would i serve it?
I honestly have no idea. In nature it would be raw, so I would guess raw, but maybe try throwing one of each in there and see if he goes for either.
