Once the ashes have completely cooled, you can put them in your garden; they make a great additive to soil that will benefit your plants. It’s a good idea to water them down a bit after you add them, to make sure there aren’t any remaining live embers. And don’t use ashes from painted or treated wood, as these can contain substances harmful to your plants.
Lots of things, like balance your soil pH, make soap, make a polish, repel slugs, or add traction to icy walks.
