There are all kinds of ways to use left over bars of soap. Put multiple tiny bits into panty hose or washcloth and use like a soap on a rope. Combine the new bar with any leftovers, use it to make laundry or liquid soap, or melt them to make a whole new bar. Instructions for these DIY projects are available via the link below.
I usually do what ecolizzie said, and combine the old bar with the new bar. If both bars of soap are wet and pushed together then let dry, they can form a surprisingly strong bond.
