-Start a recycling program if you don’t already have one
-Start an environmental club
-Talk to your facilities department about installing low-flow showerheads and faucets
-Talk to your facilities department about installing high efficiency lighting and motion sensors to shut off lights in classrooms that aren’t in use.
-Ask your facilities department if they use an energy management system to turn off heating and air condititioning at night, on weekends, and on holidays.
-Encourage your board of trustees to make your schools endowment more transparent so that you can encourage responsible investment.
-take advantage of your schools organic, local, and vegan options and encourage your friends to do so as well.
-Make sure your school makes responsible food choices: cage free eggs, hormone free grass fed meat and dairy, seafood that follows monterey bay aquarium seafood watch guidelines.
-encourage your school to partner with a carsharing program such as zip car.
-join an environmentally themed organization.
-attend a student government meeting and encourage environmental engagement.
