Electronic waste can be recycled and reused. Increased electronic waste is presently a major concern because not handling it properly, or just throwing it away, can expose people and the environment to very harmful toxic and hazardous materials. Electronic waste can actually be reprocessed and reused for its initial purpose or another purpose by making the effort to drop off unwanted electronics to recyclers.
In addition to being reused and recycled as nellieliz4 mentioned, electronic waste typically has a lot of rare metals that can be taken out manually or by melting down parts of electronics. Electronic waste can also be used to make artwork. The link below is for an artist that makes rings, necklaces, cuff links, and more out of old circuit boards.
