Stopping the growth of hotel developments in holiday resorts all together may be difficult. However, limiting the impact may be achievable by making sure that new buildings are built to LEED Green Building standards.
Some ways to reduce the impacts of building hotels in resort areas include; using recycled materials from local sources, building the hotel so that it is energy and water efficient, using permeable pavement if necessary, building the hotel to incorporate renewable energy (such as putting solar panels on site), creating a green rooftop, developing a water runoff basin, and creating a local green space or planting trees.
