Via Campesina is an international movement which coordinates peasant organizations of small and middle-scale producer, agricultural workers, rural women, and indigenous communities from Asia, Africa, American, and Europe. It is an umbrella organization of over 148 coalitions who advocate family-farm-based sustainable agriculture. They strongly believe in “food sovereignty”, the right to produce food on one’s own territory. It is a strong social movement towards sustainability which fights to change the industrial way to produce, transform, trade and consume food and agriculture products.
