Buy Nothing Day is an international day of anti-consumerist awareness. It’s held on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving, and traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year in the U.S.) to bring to light all the issues that consumption causes and all the problems it purports to solve but doesn’t. Buy Nothing Day is a reminder that shopping is not an important part of “The American Way,” and that we are more than what we own.
