What is BPA?

Bisphenol A, also known as BPA, is a chemical used to make polycarbonate plastic resins, epoxy resins, and other materials. BPA is controversial because there have been health concerns about the effect of the chemical on humans, but the American Chemistry Council has contended that BPA does not have an adverse effect on human health. It is possible to minimize exposure to BPA by seeking products that are BPA-free or using alternatives such as glass or stainless-steel containers.

Interestingly, Canada has recently banned BPA.  Perhaps others will follow?
