What is the “Boserup Effect” in population science?

Boserup is a Danish economist who has a theory of food production with the rise of population. Her theory, very simply put, says that with increased population will come innovation and technological advances to feed the masses. This is in stark contrast to Malthus’ theory that food will be the population control in the end. Both are theories on a closed system, which the world isn’t.
