Black water is water that contains or has come into contact with fecal matter, and can be a bastion for bacteria and pathogens that can give people or animals that ingest the water diseases. Black water, unlike gray water, cannot be recycled and used in irrigation or other forms of water recycling. Gray water can be filtered, processed, and reused.
