A biomass plant is a power plant that produces electricity from an organic fuel source. This can include organic waste (such as scrap lumber, animal manure, or non-edible plant parts) or plants grown specifically for use as fuel. Biomass energy can be obtained directly from this sources by burning them, or indirectly by converting them into a biofuel. Most biomass plants today run on lumber and agricultural waste.
