The largest whale species is, and in fact the biggest animal that has ever lived, is the blue whale. The biggest blue whale ever measured was a 108-foot long female found in Antarctic waters. Female blue whales tend to be slightly larger than the males, and populations of the Southern Hemisphere tend to be a bit bigger than those in the north. The biggest female blue whales can weigh up to 150 tons.
