Crater Lake in Oregon was actually the biggest volcano in the world before it erupted some 6000 years ago. Before it erupted, the volcano was 12,000 feet high, and the eruption turned it into a 1,900 feet deep crater that is now a Lake and National Park. As far as active volcanoes go, Mauna Loa in Hawaii is the largest active volcano. It rises 9000 meters from the ocean floor and has erupted 15 times since 1900.
Mauna Loa is about 50,000 feet from base to top, rather taller than Mt Mazama (that became Crater Lake) was.
