What is the biggest public works project in the world?

From what I’ve read, Algeria claims the largest Public Works Project, which is a $11.2 billion East-West highway that’ll stretch across African provinces Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and eventually connect Algiers, Constantine, Oran, Annaba, Tlemcen and Serif.

However, that doesn’t top the $15 billion spent on the Central Artery Tunnel Project, known as CAT or the Big Dig to Bostonians. The project expanded I-90 to reach from Seattle to Boston, built the world’s widest cable-stayed bridge, called the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge located in Boston, MA.
