Mice tend to be very small, and rats are larger. The largest rodent, which is what a mouse is, is the Capybara from South America. It weighs up to 160 pounds! More information on this beast can be found below.
The natural habitat of the capybara, or Hydrocoerus hydrochaeris, is in Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, the Guyanas and Peru, south through Brazil, Paraguay, northeast Argentina, and Uruguay. Their diet consists primarily of grasses and aquatic plants, and they can hold their breath under water for up to 5 minutes.
