    The biggest bee in the world is the Megachile pluto, a type of leafcutter bee. THey are also known as “Wallace’s Giant Bee.” They live in Indonesia and surrounding areas, and build nests inside of termite nests! They’re notable because females of the species have been recorded at 1.5″ long.

    The Megachile pluto found in Indonesia is the worlds largest bee. A female can grow up to 1 1/2 inches long and has a wingspan of 2 1/2 inches. A male is 2/3 the size of a female.
